PSR 2014-2020

Operation 4.2.1

Support for investments for the transformation and marketing and/or development of agricultural products

Focus Area 3A: Improve the primary producers’ integration into the agri-food chain
through quality standard systems, products’ promotion in local markets,
shorter chains, producers’ associations and interprofessional organisations.

Criteria 2017 – Works to upgrade the company waste water treatment plant, purchasing of winery and bottling equipment and plant.

Cavit sc integrates a supply chain of 10 first-level co-operative member Wineries, which bring together 4,500 winegrowers committed day in day out to tending to the land.  These are supported in their work by the local member Wineries and Cavit, whose staff of 11 Agronomists provides the services required for high quality grape production that is respectful of the environment in which we live.

For the Winegrowers and member Wineries, Cavit means not only access to the national and international markets, which it serves with professionalism and competence but also, and more importantly, the capacity to invest continually in all the stages creating the value chain: from advising Winegrowers about innovative methods and procedures and pest control, investments in research, right through to finishing and the use of technologically advanced production plants, in order to maintain the quality of the wine intact right through to the consumer’s glass.

The vineyards are fragmented, with each Winegrower owning on average scarcely 1.2 hectares, and production is based on a highly artisanal system that reflects the orography of the territory with its variety of landscapes, altitudes, and soils, each with its own ecosystem and microclimate.

This enables us to produce wines that reflect and express the wealth of a highly diverse and complex territory through the main varieties: Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, Müller Thurgau, Pinot Nero and Marzemino to cite just a few, and of course Chardonnay, which is best expressed in TRENTODOC Metodo Classico sparkling wine

Cavit is committed to promoting artisanal methods of vineyard management using state-of-the-art technological skills, with a view maintaining a high appreciation of the product and work of the associated members over the long term.

Only through continuous technological innovation, state-of-the-art production plants and wine finishing facilities can we compete assertively on international markets, as these are developing in a way that is becoming increasingly complex to interpret.

The 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme of the Autonomous Province of Trento, OPERATION 4.2.1. INVESTMENT SUPPORT FOR THE PROCESSING AND MARKETING AND/OR DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS represents an essential instrument that enables local businesses to undertake substantial investment so they can keep astride with technological developments and improve efficiency whilst respecting the environment.

The Company’s growth on Italian and world markets, attained in compliance with environmental and economic sustainability and safety at work has made these investments necessary.

INTERVENTIONS MADE

BUILDING WORKS, ELECTRO-MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL WORKS

The building and equipping of new technical premises to serve the company waste water treatment plants, electrical works for the machines in the new water-treatment premises and plumbing and electrical works for the placement of the monoblock filling machine to the piping discharge system and micro-filtration plant.

MONOBLOCK FILLING MACHINE

This completes the project to upgrade the production of semi-sparkling wines by integrating into an existing line an electronically controlled filling system, connected in a local area network with all the plant devices, which provides greater performance in terms of bottles/hour produced, state-of-the-art technology and meets all the requirements demanded by the various certification boards.

STILL AND SEMI-SPARKLING WINE TRANSPORTATION PLANT

Required to feed the new monoblock filling machine. The plant is fitted with two wine feeding stations located in the still and semi-sparkling wine cellars. The wine is transported through a partially insulated pipe, which brings it to the filling temperature (20° C), from the cellars to the micro-filtration plant and then on to the filling machine.

MICRO-FILTRATION PLANT FOR STILL AND SEMI-SPARKLING WINE LINES

This completes the upgraded plant on the new monoblock machine and transport system for the biological stabilisation of still and semi-sparkling wines, and is fitted with three filtration stages. As well as being designed for filtering wine, the completely automated plant is used to filter the water required for washing the bottles.

PNEUMATIC MANIPULATOR FOR HANDLING WINE BOXES

The bottled product converges into a single logistics facility. Market and customer service demands require mixed palettes comprising several different layers; this new equipment is able to handle layers of cartons avoiding the need for operators to handle cartons manually thereby reducing work times.

Operation 4.2.1

Support for investments for the transformation and marketing and/or development of agricultural products

Criteria 2016 – Construction of new warehouse for sparkling wines, automation of the heating plant for the still and sparkling wine cellar, and purchase of new cellar equipment.

Cavit Sc is a second-tier Consortium comprising ten first-tier cooperative wineries in the province of Trentino as well as the Consorzio Cantine Palazzo sc.

The first-tier contributing members oversee the five macro-zones of Trentino’s vineyards via the 4,500 member growers.

The careful nurturing of the land by the Wineries and their 4,500 member growers results in a range of wines that showcases all the variety of Trentino’s historical heritage: from Chardonnay to Pinot Grigio, from Gewürztraminer to Müller Thurgau, from Pinot Nero to Marzemino, and also to the TRENTODOC sparkling wines – to name just a few.

The Rural Development Plan for 2014 – 2020 enacted by the Autonomous Province of Trento, known as “OPERATION 4.2.1 SUPPORT FOR INVESTMENTS FOR THE TRANSFORMATION AND MARKETING AND/OR DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS” has provided support to the company in making the investments necessary to improve its production standards in terms of quality and quantity, thus increasing efficiency in each phase of production while respecting the environment in which we live.

Cavit focuses on the need for constant improvement in production standards in order to guarantee the levels of quality demanded by the consumer and certifying institutes such as BRC and IFS, but above all to maintain the company’s high safety standards for its employees and for the environment.

The investments that Cavit intends to make are necessary in order to improve production standards in terms of quality, quantity, technology and economy, by optimizing the production process, and involve numerous areas of the plant.

Over the last few years, the market has maintained its upward trend, especially in the sparkling wines area. The planned investments are intended to match this positive trend, increasing the capacity of the production sectors and their ancillary structures (wine cellars, sparkling wine cellars, improvements in various production areas of the plant and in the technological structures, such as heating plant and water treatment system).

MEASURES IMPLEMENTED

CONSTRUCTION OF AREA FOR AUTOCLAVES

Area designed to accommodate 600 hl horizontal autoclaves constructed in stainless steel and designed for the sparkling wines production and to contain fresh grape must, with the aim of increasing production capacity while complying with all health and safety requirements.

AUTOMATION OF VAPOUR MANIFOLD IN HEATING PLANT

The plant that provides heating for the production areas and the sanitization of the equipment used for the bottling process is to be automated by the installation – in full compliance with current legislation – of devices and equipment for the control and modulation of the production of steam, thus improving efficiency and reducing the consumption of electricity and methane gas.

HYDRAULIC WORKS FOR THE NEW AUTOCLAVES

Installation of a network of pipes to serve the new autoclaves, for heat and cold management and the nitrogen distribution. Installation of software for control and monitoring.

HYDRAULIC WORKS TO IMPROVE THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF THE HEATING PLANT FOR THE SPARKLING WINES CELLAR (HEAT EXCHANGER)

Works necessary to allow the use of a single boiler for the steam and heat production, with the aim of significantly improving overall energy efficiency. The use of the heat exchanger helps to reduce the consumption of methane gas.

WEIGHBRIDGE AND THE RELATIVE MASONRY WORKS

In compliance with VGM (Verified Gross Mass).

PALLET ROTATORS FOR TRENTO DOC SPARKLING WINE

Improvement of the various phases of production and ageing of TRENTODOC wines to meet the demands of the market.

AUTOMATIC WASHING SYSTEM (CIP)

Intended to improve productivity by streamlining the washing cycles of the sparkling wine filling unit. The system saves significant quantities of water and increases the efficiency of the detergents used.
