Pinot Grigio
Originating from Burgundy, Pinot Grigio has been present in Trentino since the end of the nineteenth century, when it was introduced by the then Imperial-Royal School of San Michele all’Adige to enhance the wine-growing heritage of the then Tyrol. In this setting, it quickly established itself, finding in the cool and breezy climate of the Adige Valley the ideal conditions to express balance and finesse.
This vine probably originates from a bud mutation of Pinot Noir. The leaf is small and three-lobed and in autumn takes on shades of yellow-brown. The bunch has a stalk that is resistant to detachment and is small, cylindrical, compact and bronze in colour when ripe, with juicy and very sweet grapes. Interpreted according to Trentino tradition in the classic straw yellow, and not copper, colour, it creates wines with good structure, freshness and aromatic clarity, becoming one of the most representative and recognisable white wines of Trentino on international markets.
