Pinot Nero
Of ancient origins, formerly cultivated in Roman times, Pinot Nero comes from Burgundy and is the progenitor of the noble Pinot family. One of the most demanding grape varieties of all, it finds its ideal expression in cool, breezy conditions on hilly terrain located at the most suitable latitudes, between the 46th and 51st parallel north: conditions that in Trentino are found with particular soil and climate affinities compared to its territory of origin, Burgundy, particularly in the hilly areas, with results of notable excellence.
The bunch is small, cylindrical, compact and therefore particularly sensitive to botrytis. When grown with care and in suitable environments, this grape variety produces wines of superior finesse and elegance, with balance and a predisposition for ageing. Its versatility also allows it to be used for both fine red wines and, vinified as a white wine, for high-quality sparkling wine bases, placing it firmly among the most prestigious grape varieties on the international wine scene.
